Brunch at The Lake House: 3 Ways to Indulge
It’s no secret that the restaurant inside The Lake House at Sylvan Beach serves up one of the best brunches in the area.
We checked in with Assistant General Manager Alisa Romero-Dunn to find out what makes the brunch so great.
No. 1 on her list: The Specials. Every week, Chef de Cuisine Craig Post and Sous Chef Holly Tennent come up with different specials to supplement the regular menu of egg dishes and crème brûlée French toast. Highlights have been a croissant breakfast sandwich and the Zeppoli Chicken Basket, a spin on chicken and waffles that replaced waffles with fried dough.
“There was butterscotch sauce on that chicken and it was really delicious,” Alisa said. “One of the things I love about our specials is how the chefs really step up and get creative with the combinations and the flavors.”
Another reason to visit The Lake House at Sylvan Beach for brunch: The cocktails.
Guests love the signature “Giggle Juice” comprising Cupcake Moscato, Ketel One vodka, pink lemonade, and Sierra Mist. Another fan favorite is the mimosa flight, where guests can choose four six-ounce pours from a list of flavors such as strawberry, pineapple, pear, and more.
Of course, the best-selling Sunday brunch drink option is the house spin on a Bloody Mary. Dubbed the “Bloody Marion,” it comes with celery, a mozzarella ball, and olives.
“People just can’t get enough of that Bloody Mary,” said Alisa. She said espresso martinis are popular, too.
The third and final reason to grab brunch at The Lake House restaurant: The view.
Though the patio isn’t open in winter, all seats still have a commanding view of the lake. Guests can relax as they watch the calm of the water, or they can sit back and marvel as ice fishermen pull fish from the chilly waters below.
Alisa noted that the restaurant recently won a Diners’ Choice award from OpenTable for the “Best Scenic View” in Upstate New York. Go and see why for yourself.
